On both these days, I had afternoon and evening shows, so I got to actually sip my coffee while sitting around in pajamas and no makeup in the comfort of my own home. It was just what the doctor ordered after 3 days of 6am wake-up calls in zero degree temperatures.
On these days, I attended the Cristina Ruales show and Lupe Gajardo.
Cristina Ruales collection is what I would call casual chic. She sent down pieces that were updated, dressed up spins on the sweatpant, sweatshirt, bomber coat, and jersey dress. Leather accents were added to the most basic wear transforming and re-categorizing the legging and sweater from basic to statement.
Lupe Gajardo’ collection was revolutionary. I have been hunting the web, for the soundtrack to the show, a song in a language that sounded similar to Avatar and set the tone so perfectly for the collection. The collection was the streets, which was so clearly depicted throughout the show. It started with the stripped down, earthy authenticity of the homeless. Recycled scraps of denim turned into skirts, jackets and pants. Coffee sack and organic fabric used throughout the collection. Every piece represented comfort, natural, organic beauty – necessities. Feather ponchos and sleeves over organza white dresses, and a full feather bodysuit ended in the show showcasing the other side of natures beauty, like the birds and trees, chaotically freeing itself and getting away.
